What if there were one question that could cut through all the noise around personal brand, visibility, and thought leadership?
Not: how many followers do you have. Not: how polished is your content. Not: what company did you work at.
Just one question — and it has nothing to do with you at all.
Bridget McGowen is a professional speaker and author (and Exec Member of Wednesday Women) who has spoken on countless stages, written books, and built a career she loves out of something she discovered along the way.
In our interview with Bridget, we asked what her ‘secret sauce’ was and she replied:
“If you are able to put people in a better position than they were before they met you, then you are golden."
This simple re-frame unlocked a lot for Bridget. She stopped thinking of herself as a speaker who needed to impress a room and started thinking of herself as a partner whose job was to move people forward. The energy changed. The conversations changed. The results changed.
So if you're working to build your reputation — professionally, publicly, or within your own organization — try asking this key question:
Are the people around me, in my work, in my team, in my community, leaving better than they arrived?
If yes, your brand is already building itself.
